OROVILLE (Butte Co.), Feb. 7 – Graveside rites were held today in the cemetery in Bidwell Bar, early day mining community east of here, for Miss Elizabeth Bendle, 72, who died in her home in Oroville Friday night.
Miss Bendle’s father, John Bendle, once operated the old Bidwell Bar store which still stands as a landmark in the ghost town.
Miss Bendle and a sister, Kate Bendle, who died in 1938, moved to Oroville from Bidwell Bar 21 years ago.
Elizabeth Bendle was born at Bidwell Bar, April 29, 1871.
The survivors are a sister, Miss Irene Bendle of Pasadena, Los Angeles County, and five nieces and nephews, including Mrs. Leonard Noel of Oroville.
