Oroville Daily Register (Oroville, California) 16 Jun 1922, Friday Page 1: Sister of Local Woman Is Dead. Word was received yesterday by Miss Kate Bendel [sic] of Orange Avenue, this city, of the death of her sister, Mrs. Leah Brooks, of San Jose, in a telegram from San Rafael.
Mrs. Brooks was a native of Bidwell Bar and many friends in this section will be grieved to learn of her death. She had been in failing health for some time.
The body will arrive here Saturday morning. Services will be held at the home of Miss Kate Bendel of this city Saturday morning at 10 o’clock. Interment will be in the Bidwell Bar Cemetery.
