Mrs. Alice Crawford Blucher was born in Arlington, Iowa, May 29, 1866. She was the daughter of Jasper N. Crawford and Abigail S. Robbins, both descendants of families of Revolutionary War fame. She spent her youth in Arlington, where she was married on December 26, 1887, to George A. von Blucher. She was the eldest of nine children, being survived by six brothers and two sisters: J. Orrie Crawford, of Shaw, Colo.; John S. Crawford, Chadbourn, N. C.; Francis M. Crawford, Independence, Mo.; Miss Pearl Crawford, Corpus Christi; E. Raymond Crawford, Chadbourn, N. C.; Robert G. Crawford, Corpus Christi; Mrs. Philip O. Perkins, Shaw, Colo; and Archie G. R. Crawford, Nananes, Mexico.
Mrs. Blucher is also survived by six children, Arthur G. Blucher of this city; Jasper F. Blucher, Corpus Christi; Mrs. Ernest M. Smith, of Edinburg; Julius L. Blucher, of Houston; Mrs. George P. Derry, of Le Mars, Iowa; and Miss Annie I. Blucher of Corpus Christi. Three grandchildren also survive her, Nellie Alice Derry, Olive Alice Blucher, and George Blucher Smith.
All of the children and grandchildren were with her at the time of her death. Mrs. Blucher united with the Methodist church in Arlington when she was a girl, and joined the Presbyterian church of this city with her husband when she came here a bride. She was devoted to her church, and gave herself with great joy to its life and work, being a member of the Woman's Auxiliary and the Ada Henderson Mission band.
She made a trip with her husband this summer to her old home and had the pleasure and satisfaction of seeing many of her friends and relatives. She was interested in and devoted to every good work and yet gave herself to her husband and family with rare devotion and completeness. Mrs. Blucher first came to Corpus Christi to visit her aunt, Mrs. John Greer, and soon returned as the bride of Mr. Blucher.
The funeral will be held from the family residence, 211 North Carrizo street at 4 o'clock this afternoon. The services will be conducted by the Rev. Brooks I. Dickey, pastor of the First Presbyterian church, and by the Rev. Thomas Gregory of the First Methodist church.
