Ed Pinkert, age 79, passed away Thursday morning at Roosevelt Genera Hospital following a lengthy illness.

He was born Aug 25, 1908 in Hamilton County, Texas, to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bruno Pinkert. Mr. Pinkert grew up in Texas. On Oct. 29, 1929, he was married to Mary Carrigan in Priddy, Texas.

The family moved to the Floyd area on Dec. 7, 1942. In 1957, Mr. and Mrs. Pinkert moved into Portales where they made their home since that time.

He had been a member of the Westside Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife Mary of the home, two sons, Ed and Guy, both of Portales; two daughters, Gwen Burns of San Pueblo, Calif., and Mary Jo Conoly of Van Horn, Texas; one sister, Hilda Elies of Dallas, Texas; 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by eight brothers and four sisters.

Services will be Saturday, July 16 at 11 a.m.in the Wheeler Starlight Chapel, with the Rev. Burt Melancon officiating. Burial will be at the Portales Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. All friends are honorary pallbearers.
