Surname also spelled Glennar∼Amsterdam Evening Recorder, Monday, March 1, 1937 ~ Widow of Civil War Veteran Believed to Have Been the Oldest Resident of Fulton County; Rites Tuesday ~ Fort Plain, March 1 ~ Mrs. Elmira Glenar, 106, believed to be the oldest resident of Fulton County, died Saturday at her home in Ephratah after a long bronchial illness. Mrs. Glenar was born in the town of Johnstown, March 23, 1830, the daughter of John W and Margaret Pitman Pitcher, and moved to the Ephratah about 80 years ago. Her husband, the late Adam Glenar, was a Civil War veteran. The only survivors are a grandson, Carl Getman, Nelliston, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Methodist Church in Ephratah, where the Rev. Frank Finkle, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be made in Ephratah Cemetery.
