The New Iberian (MO) – July 26, 1979:
Walter Wayne Farrow, 61, Iberia, died Monday, July 16, 1979, at the Missouri State Penitentiary after being attacked by an inmate. Mr. Farrow was born Nov. 8, 1917, in Miller County, the son of John and Nettie Lawson Farrow. On September 3, 1937, he was married in Miller County to Olive Lawson, who survives at the home.
He had been employed as a corrections officer at the penitentiary the last 15 years. He was a World War II veteran.
Other survivors include: Six sons, Ronald Farrow, Springfield, Harold Farrow, Meta, Tommy Farrow, Nederland, Texas, Roger Farrow, Tuscumbia, and Billy Farrow and David Farrow, both of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Janet Bax, Iberia; and 12 grandchildren.
The funeral was conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Stevinson Funeral Home, Iberia, with burial in the Duncan Cemetery near Iberia. Graveside Military Rites were by the Iberia VFW.
