Floyd Ray Alford, 88, son of the late William Frank Alford and Lila Rogers Alford, was born Feb. 4, 1914, in Oregon County, Mo., and died June 28, 2002, in West Plains, Mo. He was married July 3, 1937, in Oregon County to Mae Underwood.He was a farmer and attended Cane Hill Church and Sunday School for many years.Survivors include his wife, Mae of the home in Thayer, Mo.; one son, Don Alford of Thayer; four daughters, Judy Barton of Clarksville, Tenn., Mary Kay Oakes of Thayer, Ann Burk of Brookline, Mo., and Betty Grooms of Alton, Mo.; two brothers, Haston Alford of Malin, Oregon, and Alford Alford of Alton; five sisters, Vera Greathouse of Kansas City, Mo., Walta Miller of Mammoth Spring, Ark., Sylvia Phillips of Blue Springs, Mo., Lela Riggs of Kansas City, Mo., and Helen Buckner of Virginia Beach, Va.; twelve grandchildren, Carla, Michael, Edwin, Cheryl, Randal, Erin, Robyn, Russ, Jason, Kari, Kristi, and Kevin; ten great-grandchildren, Bradley, Alexandria, Molly, Casey, Samantha, Rhiannon, Austin, Dylan, Haily and Heather; and 58 nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Owen Alford; three sisters, Nellie Phelps, Opal Bennett and Dorothy Robinson; and one infant brother.Services were Tuesday, July 2, 2002, at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer with Rev. Robert G. Wiggs officiating. Burial was in the Davis Cemetery at Thayer with arrangements under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc., of Thayer.Pallbearers were Michael Barton, Kevin Grooms, Randal Oakes, Jason Shepherd, Edwin Barton, Leland Janes.Honorary pallbearers were Carla Aaron, Erin Janes, Cheryl Oakes, Kari Bowers, Robyn Massey, and Kristi Wade.
