Sylvia N. Phillips, 87, of Blue Springs, Missouri, passed away Sunday, January 23, 2011. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m., Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at Meyers Funeral Chapel, 1600 W. Main, Blue Springs, Missouri. Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m., at the Meyers Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery. She enjoyed square dancing and playing bingo and was a member of American Legion #499 Ladies Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her husband, C. E. (Gene) Phillips; parents, Frank and Lila (Rogers) Alford; a son, Edward McMurray; brothers, Floyd and Owen Alford; sisters: Nellie Phelps, Dorothy Robinson, Opal Bennett, and Vera Greathouse. She is survived by sons: John McMurray and wife Kenda, of Buckner, MO, Dennis McMurray, of Independence, MO, Eugene Phillips, of Blue Springs, MO; a daughter, Janie Milburn, of Leeton, MO, brothers, Alfred Alford, Haston (Bill) Alford; sisters: Walta Miller, Lela Riggs, and Helen Buckner; 12 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.
