Per Gone Home II book, page 428, (a compilation of genealogies provided by residents of Holt County) which is found at the Holt County Historical Society, Kate was born in Oregon, MO on 13 October 1858 to William and Eliza Ashworth. She died in Holyoke Colorado on 29 April 1938. Thanks to Cynthia Kenny for providing this information.

She married Lorenzo Dow Campbell as Katie Ashworth on 9 June 1877 in Holt County, Missouri. They were the parents of at least 5 children:
Otho born in 1877 at Maitland, MO
Warren born in 1879 in Holt County, MO
Wickey born in 1881 in Holt County MO
Roy born in 1883 in Holt County, MO
William born in 1886 in Holt County, MO

In 1899 her husband Lorenzo died, leaving her a widow. A few years later her son William died.

Kate's older sister Eliza Jane married Lorenzo's brother John Henry Campbell.

Kate married as her second husband Jeptha E. Riley on Nov 27 1912 in St. Joseph, MO.
The marriage was not a long one as by 1920 she is described as a widow. At that time she was living with her son Warren and his family in Phillips County, Colorado, as Katherine Riley. In the same area was another son, Roy with his family

In 1930 she is living alone in Phillips County, Colorado as Kate Riley. Her son Warren was living in Nebraska in 1930. Roy had moved away also and was living in Kansas in 1930
