"Major" William Adams was a pottery designer descending from an ancient lineage of potters from Stoke-on-Trent, England. He married Emily Lockett in St. John's, Burslem, Staffordshire, England. After her death, he and their son, William E. Adams, immigrated to the United States and settled in East Liverpool, Ohio. He then married Esther Gratton who also preceded him in death. He died 09 Aug 1908 at a residence on Minerva Street in East Liverpool. At the time of his death, he was employed by the Homer Laughlin China Company where he worked with his son, William.
