"Belle" said the Lord didn't give her children cause He had plenty for her to raise. At age 20 she m. a widower (her sister's brother-in-law) with two young daughters, 4 & 2 yrs old. A few months later her sister Hattie died from T.B., leaving 3 very young boys whom she mothered, even though their dad soon remarried. In 1925, her step-daughter Willie died, leaving 2 children under 5 yrs and she raised them. She also gave major assistance to her mom in raising her siblings more than 20 yrs her junior. Belle is remembered fondly as a joyous, loving person. (My grandfather T.A. RICHEY, her nephew, had greatly loved her, & called me "Sadie" as a term of affection - JPACE, 8/98).
