According to Sandisfield Town Hall records, William Wilcox was born August 7, 1777, at Sandisfield, a son of Abel and Susannah (Hall) Wilcox. He married February 23, 1803, at East Guilford, Connecticut, Lucinda Gibbs, a daughter of Stephen and Ruth (Chamberlain) Gibbs. The couple had twelve children of record, seven of whom were born at Sandisfield. The others were born in Ohio. On June 22, 1828, William died at the age of fifty-one. He is buried at Deerfield Cemetery in Portage County, Ohio. His widow, Lucinda, died September 16, 1862, at Deerfield and lies buried beside him.
