GREENSBORO - Gravner Harold Coltrane, 84, passed from this life, Monday, Jan. 15, 2007, at Bradford Village East in Kernersville.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 High Point Road in Greensboro. Burial will follow in Guilford Memorial Park.

Born in Greensboro May 12, 1922, to the late Gravner Hodgin Coltrane and Edna Wakefield Coltrane, Mr. Coltrane was a graduate of Sumner High School and, in years past, attended Centre Friends Meeting. He served in the U.S. Army. He received a service achievement plaque from Hodgin Supply Co. after 50 years of employment. In his younger days, Mr. Coltrane enjoyed racing motorcycles.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Coltrane was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Fuller Coltrane; stepmother, Hazel Langley Coltrane; and a brother, James C. Coltrane Sr.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Wanda C. Richardson and Melissa C. Hoots, both of Winston-Salem; granddaughters, Norma Grey Richardson of High Point and Joyce Ann Burcham of Winston-Salem; sisters, Frances Boyles and Faye Henley, both of Greensboro; and brothers, Fred M. Coltrane of Greensboro and Frank M. Coltrane of Greenville, Ala.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Camp Sky Ranch 634 Sky Ranch Rd. Blowing Rock, NC 28605-9738, for mentally challenged and physically handicapped children and adults
