Died of wounds at Ocmulgee Hospital, Macon, GA. Son of William Caffee and Elizabeth Garrett. Husband of Elizabeth Caroline Sharp.Company F 50th Alabama Infantry CSA.John was the son of William R. and Elizabeth Calfee (Caffee). He married Elizabeth Caroline Sharp.

John served in the 50th Alabama Regiment, CSA. He was wounded on 22 June, 1864 and was sent to the Ocmulgee Hospital in Macon, GA, on 24 September of that year. He had a fractured leg due to gunshot. The leg was later amputated. He died October 15, 1864 and was buried in the Old City Cemetery. Later, his remains were moved to Rose Hill Cemetery.
