Barbara Schneider was born on 4 February 1857, in either Alsace or Bayern, depending on which government had control of the area at that time. The names of her parents are not presently known. In 1882, she became the first wife of Martin Eyer of Alsace and they had two known children, William Godfrey Eyer born in 1883 and Louisa Barbara Eyer, born in 1887, who died three months later of convulsions. Barbara Schneider Eyer died of tuberculosis on 20 April 1888, in Rochester, New York, and was buried on 22 April 1888 in Mount Hope Cemetery. She was only 32 years, 2 months and 15 days of age at the time of her death.
