Harvey Pickrel, an old pioneer of York county, passed away at his home, 714 Platte avenue last night at 11:15 o'clock. He had been ill for several weeks.
Mr. Pickrel was 76 years old. He came to York county 46 years ago, locating on a homestead in Leroy township. He was engaged in farming and raising thoroughbred livestock, until a few years ago when, on account of his failing health he retired from the farm, coming to York to make his home.
Mr. Pickrel served 3 years in the civil war and has been a member of the Masonic lodge for 53 years. He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Annis Allen of this city and five sons, Charles of Morefield, Harvey, Clifford, James and Claudius, of York.
