Born March 1, 1927, in Climax, N.C., she was the youngest of six siblings of the late Pliney E. White and Maggie S. White.

Having grown up a Quaker at Providence Friends Meeting in Randolph County, she attended Guilford College where she met Ralph. They married and eventually moved to the Alamance Church Community in 1955 where she has been a member since. Active in the church, she was the first woman elected Deacon at Alamance and was the recipient of the Women of the Church Life Membership Award in 2000. A longtime hostess of the church she was referred to by many as the "flower lady"-a knack for arranging flowers she happily inherited from her best friend and sister, Libby. She is also remembered by many at the church who knew her as a Sunday School teacher, Youth Group Leader, Circle Chairman and choir member.

Preceding her in death were her five brothers and sisters, Louise Andrew, Harold White, Jack White, Wayne White, and Elisabeth (Libby) Triplett.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, J. Ralph Hobbs. They spent the last three years at Friends Home at Guilford College, where Ralph still resides. Also surviving are sons, Daniel R. Hobbs and wife, Betty, and Timothy E. Hobbs and wife, Jan, both of Greensboro. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren, Jonathan and Emily Hobbs and her fiance, Trey Oliver and Graham and Zach Hobbs and his wife, Alesia.
