August Holzhauer
Well Known Resident of This City Died at Four O'clock This Morning After Very Brief Illness
The final summons came at four o'clock this morning to August Holzhauer, a well known and respected resident of this city, death following a very brief illness of heart trouble.
Mr. Holzhauer had been in failing health since the middle of October, but had been confined to his home for a few days. He was born in Madison on August 8, 1858, making him in his 67th year at the time of his demise. He was the son of the late Christian and Agnes Holzhauer.
In 1885 he was married to Miss Josephine Lohmann, also of this city, and to this union were born two sons and three daughters, all of whom survive as follows: Messrs. Joseph Holzhauer, of this city; Frank Holzhauer, of Indianapolis, and Misses Agnes, Gertrude and Helen Holzhauer, living at home. He is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Herman Eckert, of Tipton, Ohio, and Miss Barbara Schneider, of Madison, and one brother, Henry Schneider, of this city. Mr. Holzhauer's wife preceded him in to the Great Beyond nineteen years ago.
The decedent was a member of St. Mary's church and was respected by all who knew him. He possessed a jovial, kindly disposition which made many friends for him and his death is the source of deep regret to all who knew him. The sympathy of the entire community is extended to the bereaved children.
Funeral services have not yet been made, pending the arrival of relatives form a distance, but will be announced later.

Funeral of August Holzhauer
Funeral services for the late August Holzhauer, who died early Saturday morning, were conducted at his home on Poplar street at 9:30 o'clock this morning, by Rev. Charles Bilger, pastor of St. Mary's Church, of which the decedent was a member. The funeral was attended by a large number of friends, neighbors and relatives who gathered to pay their last respects to the decedent, while numerous floral tributes silently offered the sympathy of the senders. Following services at the house, the remains were laid to rest in St. Joseph's cemetery with the following friends serving as pall-bearers: Messrs. Louis Barnes, George Hummel, Henry Schneider, Jacob Lucht, Jacob Haar, Casper Krum.
