NORTH CREEK -- Blanche P. Alexander, 82, died Monday (April 14, 1986) at Glens Falls Hospital.

Born in North Creek Feb. 9, 1904, she was the daughter of Sheppard and Nancy Pereau and the widow of Guy Alexander.

A teacher from 1921 until her retirement in 1971, she taught in several one-room schools in the North Creek area and retired from Johnsburg. Mrs. Alexander entered the Peace Corps in 1965 and taught English in the Teacher's Institute in Liberia, Africa for two years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Retired Teacher's Association and was an active member of the North Creek Methodist Church and the Adirondack Tri County Nursing Home Auxiliary in North Creek.

Mrs. Alexander was predeceased by a son. Dr. Robert Alexander.

Survivors include four sons, Thomas Alexander of North Creek, Dr. William Alexander of Lyons Falls, John Alexander of North Creek, and Joseph Alexander of Saratoga Springs; a daughter. Nancy Choppa of Glens Falls; a sister, Lillian Yandon of North Creek; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the North Creek United Methodist Church with the Rev. Joseph Babcock officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and Thursday at the Swain Funeral Home.

Bearers will be Guy Alexander, John Alexander, Jack Alexander, Glynn Alexander, Scott Choppa, and Billy C. Choppa.

The family has suggested that memorials take the form of contributions to the new Day Care Center of the Adirondack Tri County Nursing Home or to the Johnsburg Central School Scholarship Fund.
