Tunnelton Miner is Killed Monday. Preston County Journal. Kingwood, WV. Thurs. March 17, 1955.
Abstract--A 49 year-old Tunnelton coal miner, father of nine children was killed Monday in a slate fall at the Baltimore Mining Co. pit at Camp Gorund. He was Richard Foster. Injured in the same fall was Barton Wiles, 47, who was taken to a Morgantown hospital. It was reported that he suffered a fractured spine, possible fractured pelvis, several broken ribs and other internal injuries. It was the first day at the conveyor mine for both men. Investigators said that the fall occured 450 feet inside of the mine.

age 74, of Tunnelton, died July 24, 1982, at his home. He was born Feb. 2, 1908, in Howesville, a s/o the late Lee and Elsie Wright Wiles. He retired after a coal mining accident 28 years ago. He is survived by his wife, Marie Williams Wiles; four daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Teets of Rowlesburg, Mrs. Loraine Menear of Tunnelton, Mrs. Barbara Fizer of Cincinnati, O., Mrs. Shirley Hacker of Romney; two sons, Richard Wiles of Brookhaven and Wayne Wiles of Morgantown; two brothers, Glenn Miller of Clarksburg and Wade Miller of Tunnelton; one sister, Mrs. Bernice Buckhannon of Fairmont. Burial was in the Shay's Chapel Cemetery.
