ALFRED LEWIS DROPPED DEAD IN THE DOUGLAS BARBER SHOP LATE SATURDAY AFTERNOON
Alfred Lewis, whose home was at 1502 Whitney street, died very suddenly Saturday afternoon at about 4:30 o'clock in the Douglas barber shop in the basement of the building at the corner of South State and East Pleasant streets the immediate cause of death being heart trouble.
The funeral services will be held on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the chapel at the Belvidere cemetery, where burial will be made. The funeral cortege will leave the Byram & Atkins undertaking rooms directly for the cemetery
Mr. Lewis was 69 years of age He was born in Calcutta, East Indies and came to this country and to this vicinity when about 16 years of age. He lived in Caledonia township until fifteen years ago. In 1915 he was married to Miss Mary Brau in Freeport, Ill.
There survive his wife and three children, Mrs. Floyd Adams, and Alvin of Belvidere and Charles of Kelley, N.D.
Mrs. Lewis had been employed by the N.S.M. Co. but had not been able to work for the last three weeks.
The deceased had many friends who will regret his demise.
