Ah Louis was a Chinese immigrant that came to the United States from China in the mid 1800's. He settled in San Luis Obispo, California along with his wife and raised eight children.

Ah Louis opened a small mercantile store in the downtown chinatown district. It is one of the last buildings still remaining in that area. He stocked many items for the chinese community including rice, rum and opium. The shop is located at Chorro and Palm streets in San Luis Obispo, California. The store is still owned by the Louis family.
