Plina (Pauline) Blythe (1922-2008)

Plina "Pauline" Harris Blythe, 86, of Greenup passed peacefully Saturday Dec. 13, 2008, at Oakmont Manor Nursing Facility.

She was born Feb. 17, 1922, in Pike County, a daughter of the late John Crittendon "Crit" and Lilly Jane Prater Harris Leibee. She was the asst. manager of D.D. Fitzgerald, which later became the Russell Yards YMCA. Plina ran a craft and hobby shop in Argillite for years and always looked forward to her annual trek to Florida and the "ole family fish camp." She was a member of Argillite Church of the Nazarene.

She also was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Charles Clifford Blythe in 1999; three brothers, Corbett Linten Harris, Joseph Leonard "Joe" Harris and Jack Harris; and two sisters, Betty Lou Rowe and Columbia Jane Leibee; three half-sisters Mary Magdalene "Maggie" Penix, Octavia Harris and Ethel Harris; six half-brothers Samuel Harris, Jessie Harris, Bill Harris, Benjamin Harris, Blakie Harris, and James Monroe Harris.

Their home of many years together was blessed with two daughters, Loretta Smiley (Harold) of Sunbury, Ohio, and Laura Wilburn (Curtis) of Grayson; two brothers, Fred Harris (Audrey) of Ashland and Gilliam Harris (Ilene) of Kissimmee, Fla.; three sisters, Patty Sublett (Bill) of Indiana, Catherine Franklin of Wurtland and May Williamson of Greenup; four grandchildren, Matthew Sharp, Rebecca Sharp, Anthony Sharp and Paula Smiley; 33 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren, 10 stepgreat-grandchildren; and seven stepgreat-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2008, at Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home on Panola St. In Catlettsburg. The Revs. James Harris and Richard Parker to deliver personal eulogies and devotions. Final rest in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens.

Calling hours are from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

In lieu of floral tributes, contributions should be made to Community Hospice, 1538 Central Ave., Ashland, Ky. 41101.
