Enjoying the best of health without ever having consulted a doctor or forced to wear glasses on account of impaired eyesight, John LaBarge, 82 years old, suffered a shock at about 4:00 o'clock Wednesday morning and died at 11:40 o'clock Friday night at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J.P. Davenport, 5 Talcott Street.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 o'clock Monday morning, Rev. Timothy P. Holland conducted the service at the Sacred Heart Church, and burial was made in Calvary Cemetery. Six grandchildren acted as pall bearers.

Mr. LaBarge was born in Canada, July 3, 1846. While but a small child, he came to the United States with his parents and lived in Malone for several years. The family then moved to Massena where he has resided since. He attended Massena schools, and in early life he married Miss Agnes Fayette in the town of Norfolk and soon after the marriage the young couple moved to a farm not far from Massena Springs on the Grantville Road. From that time to the death of the husband Mr. and Mrs. LaBarge have lived on the same farm except for the winters of the past six years when the children insisted that the parents accept the comforts of town life. Last fall, October 7, they celebrated the fifty-sixth anniversary of married life.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Agnes LaBarge; three daughters, Mrs. Eugene St. Dennis and Mrs. J.P. Davenport, of Massena, and Mrs. Walter Mousseau, of Saranac Lake; one son, Herbert LaBarge, Potsdam; and three brothers, each being more than 70 years of age and all able to attend the funeral, Levi LaBarge of Helena, Joseph LaBarge of Norfolk, and Marshall LaBarge of Massena.

Mr. LaBarge has always enjoyed excellent health. During his 82 years of life he was never forced to call a doctor, undoubtedly the record for good health in this community. Despite his age he did not wear glasses and he had never had any trouble with his teeth. Only last week, on one of his frequent trips down town he told friends that he had never felt better in his life.

Among those from out of town attending the funeral were Mrs. Hattie Fayette and Mr. and Mrs. John Fayette and children of Watertown; Harold St. Dennis, Syracuse; Mr., and Mrs. Leward Mousseau, Hudson Falls; Adolph Quinville, Dundee, Que., Levi Fayette and William Converse, Fort Jackson.
