Ernest was the son of George Henry Graves and Polly Ann Edwards Graves. Brothers Everett L., Emerson Clyde, Melborne and Kermit Graves. Sisters Lillian, Lavada, Audrey Beatrice, Bernetta Jean and Barbara Ann Graves.

There was a lot of confusion on my father's middle name. Most of the documentation has his middle name as ‘Elonzo', which is wrong. My mother told me that my father was getting mail for another Ernest Lonzo Graves and it was suggested to him that he add an ‘E' to Lonzo to eliminate the confusion, so he did.

He was not a tall man about 5'4", black hair and grey eyes. He has 4 daughters and 3 sons.

He was a very talented man, he built our 1st house and played the guitar, banjo, violin and he could make a steel guitar talk. He loved his CB radio, he could build one from parts. His call name was 'The Raven'.

Ernest worked in a coal mine when we lived in Middlesboro, KY and worked at River Raisin Paper Co. (which later was renamed Union Camp Paper Co.) in Monroe, MI. When we first moved to Monroe, Michigan we lived in a small subdivision called ‘Darington', which was near the paper company.
