Elizabeth "Betsey" Young was the daughter of Philip (a.k.a. Phillip) & Nancy Ann (McLain a.k.a. McLean) Young. Although some records indicate Elizabeth was born in Pickaway County, OH, she may actually have been born in Berkeley County, VA (now WV), where her parents were married in about 1805. In any event, Elizabeth grew up on a family farm in Pickaway County. Sometime prior to 1830, Elizabeth was married to Thomas Ragon (a.k.a. Ragan). Thomas is also buried at Wesley Chapel Cemetery. According to the "History of Shelby County, Ohio": "Elizabeth was a native of Pickaway County but was living in Wyandot County (Ohio), near Carey, when she married Thomas Ragan (a.k.a. Ragon). Thomas & Elizabeth then moved to a farm near Sidney (Shelby County, OH) and later to Franklin Township and Dinsmore Township." Elizabeth and Thomas parented ten children, two of whom were later to serve in the Civil War.
