Carl Earl Jr., 88, trumpeter and retired educator, entered rest Friday, Dec. 19, 2008.
Funeral: Noon Friday, Dec. 26, at Mount Zion Baptist Church, 1101 Evans Ave. Interment: Cedar Hill Memorial Park. Visitation: 10 a.m. Friday at the church.
Carl was born Aug. 28, 1920, to Carl Earl Sr. and Essie Earl Heath. He graduated from I.M. Terrell High School and earned a bachelor of arts at Huston-Tillotson College and a master of arts at North Texas State University.
Carl taught music in the Fort Worth public schools for several years; he was a professional trumpeter, master keyboard tuner, and member of Mount Zion Baptist Church. He affiliated with Fort Worth Classroom Teachers Association, Fort Worth Retired School Employees and Fort Worth Piano Guild.
Preceding him in death were his parents, son and brother.
Survivors: Devoted companion and friend, Gussie Beaver; special daughter, Joanna Tarkington; beloved cousins, Linda Smith, Rev. Eddie Smith, Finis Smith, Bobby Sparks, Curtis Sparks and LaSalle Sparks; and many other family members and friends.
