Stephen P. Jones, 75 of Palo, died at his home January 15 after a protracted illness of several years duration which made him practically blind. Funeral services were held at the home and the Palo Methodist Church, Rev. Floyd N. Drake officiating. Interment was in Palo Cemetery.
Mr. Jones Kept store for many years at Newark Corners, just north of Middleton. He had been an active member all his life and was a highly respected member of the Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Masonic and Macabee fraternal organizations.
In 1881 he was married to Crissa F. Wright and the couple have a son, C.Ney Jones of Bushnell Montcalm county. Besides the widow and the son he is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Celia Lowe of Duluth, Minn., and Mrs. Herbert Wright of Ronald township and three brothers, Fred, of Chalk Butte, Montana, William of Belding and Jay of Chicago. There are also five grandchildren besides several nieces and other relatives.
