Fred Schriner, son of Henry and Frances (Zade) Schriner, was born August 2, 1891 on a farm southwest of Riverton and departed from this life at his home on the morning of October 20, 1960 at the age of 69 years, 2 months and 18 days.
On November 17, 1915 he was united in marriage to Edna Louise Goebel at Smith Center, Kansas. To this union 12 children were born. They resided on a farm south of Riverton until 1943 when he, with his family moved to a farm south of Naponee. He farmed there until 1955 when he retired and moved to Naponee.
He was a kind and loving husband and father always ready to lend a helping hand in time of need. One of his greatest joys was having all his children and grandchildren together.
One son, one daughter, his parents, two sisters and one brother preceded him in death.
He leaves to mourn his departure his beloved wife, Edna, seven sons, Merlyn and Delbert of Naponee, Marvin and Carl of Dodge City, Kansas, Clifford of Russell, Kansas, Raymond of Ness City, Kansas and Maurice of Montezuma, Kansas; Three daughters, Alma Avery and Doris Jean Taylor of Naponee and Wilma of the home; two sisters, four brothers, 28 grandchildren, besides a host of relatives and friends.
