From the Table Rock Argus, Oct. 27, 1933:

Mattie Zelenka was born June 3, 1884, northwest of Table Rock, and died October 20, 1933, aged 49 years, 4 months and 17 days. She was taken suddenly.

On January 13, 1904, she was united in marriage to Frank L. Fencl at Tecumseh, and to this union were born six children, three boys and three girls: Louis and Jesse of Table Rock and George of Hamburg, Iowa; Mrs. Leo Lang, Elsie and Alma of Table Rock.

She was confirmed in the Catholic church of Steinauer. A good wife, mother, neighbor and friend has gone the way of all the earth. Besides her immediate family she leaves to mourn their loss, her father, Albert Zelenka, three sisters, Mrs. J. F. Vrtiska of Pawnee, Mrs. Lena Mertes of Table Rock, Mrs. John Vrtiska of Violet, one grandson, David Lee Lang, and other relatives and many friends.

The funeral was held at the home of Mrs. Leo Lang at 1 o'clock Sunday, conducted by Harold Reel, pastor of the Table Rock Christian church, and interment was in the Bohemian cemetery east of Table Rock.
