A celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at Calvary Baptist Church in Scottsboro. Dr. Robert Gamble and Reverend Stephen Barber officiated. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mike is survived by his wife, Cindy, and sons, Brent and Drew; sister, Carol Sain of Meridianville; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Coy and Wendy Hastings of Scottsboro, and Mark and Sandy Vernon of Woodville; nephew, Matt Hastings and wife, Crystal; nieces, Ashley Hancock and husband David, Hayley Jones, Jeannie Phillips and husband, Adam, Megan Hastings, and Sarah Vernon; great nephews, Ethan Hancock, Blake Jones, Cade Hastings and Jake Hastings; great niece, Emily Hancock; special pet, Allie; along with a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Pauline Benson; mother-in-law, Jean Stanton Sparkman; and brother-in-law, Tommy Sain.
Mike worked as Safety and Health Manager at Polyamide High Performance in Scottsboro. He served as Deacon and Sunday School Director at Calvary Baptist Church, Scottsboro Quarter Back Club President, Coach of numerous little league teams, and was involved with Boy Scouts.
Mike was a kind, loving, humble person who loved his family, friends, church and God. He was a wonderful devoted husband and Daddy and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
