Teresa was born in Pricina, Rakovnik, Bohemia, which is about 60 miles west of Prague. She was the daughter of František Zeman, her mother was Anna Tryner from the village Milíčov.

5/12/1926 In Memoriam -- Funeral services for Mrs. Terese Braum, 82 years old, who died Monday at Milligan, Neb., will be conducted from Marshall & Harper's chapel Wednesday afternoon at 4 o'clock by Rev. Edward S. Priest, pastor of the Pennsylvania Avenue Christian church. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. James Kruta of Oklahoma City, and one son, J.F. Braum. Burial will be in Fairlawn cemetery.

The entire family left Bohemia in 1868 and settled in Nebraska. Joseph was a farmer and a brick maker. He imprinted a large "B" on all his bricks. His bricks can still be found in cellar walls, chimneys, and homes in his community of Liberty Township, Nebraska. The Braums left Nebraska in 1889 for free land in Oklahoma. They settled in what is now Oklahoma City. In 1891, Joseph sold his Nebraska farm.

My great great grandparents Josef and Teresa Braum took a trip on December 13,1894 on the ship "Normannia" to Bohemia. Their point of departure was Hamburg, Germany, and their point of entry was New York. Their accommodation was "Zwischendeck", which means between deck, otherwise known as the cargo section.I think they must have gone back to Bohemia for something because it listed their residence as Oklahoma City. When they came to America, they settled in Nebraska first and are listed on the Nebraska 1880 census and then moved to Oklahoma City. According to the 1910 census in Oklahoma City, both Josef and Teresa could speak English, and they owned their home.

The family plot includes Teresa, husband Josef, grandson Freddie Braum, and Jessie Braum Lee. The plot is owned by Freddie's parents.
