DALHART - Marcus L. Adair, 90, also of Edmond, Okla., died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2008.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Cathedral of the Hills in Edmond. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Oklahoma City by Horizon Funeral Home of Dalhart and Matthews Funeral Home of Edmond.

Marcus L. Adair was born Aug. 19, 1918, in Boswell, Okla., to John and Bessie Bozarth Adair. Marcus graduated from Perryton High School and immediately began his ministry. On July 29, 1939, he married Mary Howard in Booker. The Rev. Marcus Adair's ministry spanned more than 70 years and three continents. He built and served churches including Midway Country Church in Logan, Okla., Follett Chapel in Follett, Faith Community Church in Canyon and Faith Bible Center in Canyon. It was not unusual for Marcus to travel more than 5,000 miles in a week, visiting shut-ins and folks in nursing homes and hospitals. His desire to learn was exceeded only by his desire to serve.

Dr. Marcus Adair began his education with a Bachelor of Science at West Texas State University in 1969, then a Master of Education at Phillips University in Enid, Okla., in 1971, a Master of Philosophy from Bethany Nazarene College in Bethany, Okla., in 1975, a Ph.D. in theology from California Graduate School of Theology in 1983 and a Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Beverly Hills in 1984. Dr. Marcus L. Adair was a tireless servant of God and will be missed by all whose lives he touched.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; his parents; a sister; and three brothers.

Survivors include a son, Duane and wife Carrie of Edmond; three daughters, Velora Cummings and husband Glenn of Dalhart, Ann Hayes and husband Marvin and Linda Peck, all of Edmond; a half sister, Marie of Florida; eight grandchildren, Ginger Cox, Jill Ryan, Kori Grouse, Shelby Cummings, Coby Cummings, Tosh Hays, Ty Peck and Benji Peck; nine great-grandchildren, Addie and Emma Ryan, London and Max Bulgarelli, Landon, Levi and Lincoln Peck, Henry Peck and Tillie Grouse.

Viewing will be today at the funeral home in Dalhart. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home in Edmond.
