As result of information received that Rosalind Masters was second wife of Farmer Orr, he has now been linked to his first wife, Ann (who was identified as also being his first cousin).
Gilmer County census data strongly suggests that Farmer Orr was the son of Robert & Eleanor Orr.
In 1850 census, Robert Orr is age 70, b NC. His wife Ellinor is age 66, b SC. In 1860, Robert is 79; Elenor is 75. Robert Orr apparently died between 1860 & 1870. In 1870, Elnor Orr is 84. She is not listed in 1880 census. No legible tombstones have been found for either Robert or Eleanor Orr.
Another probable son of Robert & Eleanor Orr is James M. Orr (wife, Parthenia), b NC; James is consistently one year younger than Farmer Orr in 1850 thru 1880 Gilmer Co census data. It also seems likely that Charlotte Ann Orr who married Thomas J. Withrow in 1846 was daughter of Robert & Eleanor Orr.
Other possibilities include the John D. Orr who married Jane M. Osborn. They are buried in Gilmer Co; however, John D. Orr never appears in Gilmer census data. His widow, Jane M. Orr, is listed in 1870 & 1880 Gilmer census. HH #993 in 1850 census is William Orr, age 23. With him is Mary Orr, age 48 (his mother??), and Catherine Evans, age 9; all born NC. This may or may not be the William Orr (wife Elizabeth), b ca 1830, b SC, who are listed in 1860 thru 1880 census data.
With one exception, all children listed in census data with Farmer & Rosa Orr have been linked to them. The exception is daughter Mary C. Orr, born 1849 in GA. Mary is age 1 in 1850 census; 11 in 1860; 21 in 1870. She is not listed in 1880 census; no marriage record found for Mary Orr.
