OBITUARY, The Correctionville News, 9 December 1943:
Claud Anderson was born in Harlan, Shelby Co., Iowa, January 14, 1879, and passed away Tuesday November 30, 1943, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Page at the age of 64 years, 10 months and 16 days.
On February 25, 1903, he was married to Bertha Coon of Correctionville. To this union were born nine children, four passing away in infancy.
Those left to mourn his departure are his wife and five sons, Orville and Merrill of Pasco, Washington, Clifford of Hughes Springs, Texas, Donald of Anthon and Lowell of Correctionville, four grandchildren, Carroll, Gary, Sharon and Karen Anderson, two sisters, Mrs. Maud Ferguson of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Mrs. John Coon of Correctionville, and one brother, Bruce Anderson, of near Denver, Colorado.
He was a kind and devoted husband and a loving father. He has lived in and near Correctionville his entire life, except six years spent in Johnstown, Colo.
On Monday morning Claud was stricken with a heart attack from which he never recovered; all that doctors and loving hands could do failed to help him. At 10 o'clock Tuesday evening he passed peacefully away.
Funeral services were held December 4 at Wilson-Hull Funeral Home in Correctionville with Rev. Robert H. Forrester officiating. The funeral hymns "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" were sung by Mrs. John Mahnke and Mrs. Ed Robinson with Mrs. Bessie Hatfield at the piano. Pallbearers included August Wieck, Guy Keller, Rudy Florke, Clarence Newton, Bert Mahin and Cleve Robinson. Mrs. Fielding Cobb and Mrs. John Anderson had charge of flowers and Marcus Markusen arranged cars for the procession to the Correctionville Cemetery where the deceased was laid to rest.
