Hunter Darden, 82, died Friday morning in his home. A native of Southampton County, he was the husband of Mrs. Sallie Lankford Darden. He was a retired farmer. He was a lifelong member of Sycamore Baptist Church and charter member of Forks of the River Ruritan Club. Other survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Louise Vaughan and Mrs. Dorothy Cotton, and four sons, Hunter Darden, Jr., Harvey Darden, Thomas Irvin Darden, and Charles Darden, all of Franklin; a sister, Mrs. Annie Louise Cotton, and a brother, Theon A. Darden, also of Franklin; 12 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. A funeral will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery with Wright Funeral Home in charge.
FRANKLIN - A funeral service was held for Hunter Darden Sr., 83, Sunday at 3 p.m. in his home by the Rev. William LaWall and Dr. Ira Hudgins. Wright Funeral Home and charge. Pallbearers were his grandsons; Hunter Darden, III, R. Darden, Harvey Darden, Jr., Charles Burney Darden, Michael Darden, Russell D. Cotton, Preston Cotton and Aubrey Lankford. Darden died in his home Friday. He was a lifelong member of Sycamore Baptist Church and a charter member of Forks of the River Ruritan Club. A native of Southampton County, he is survived by his wife Sally Lankford Darden. He is also survived by two daughters, Louise D. Vaughan and Dorothy D. Cotton of Franklin; four sons, Hunter Darden, Jr., Thomas Irvin Darden, Harvey Darden, and Charles B. Darden, all of Franklin; one brother Theon A. Darden of Franklin; one sister Mrs. Annie Laurie Cotton of Franklin. Other survivors include 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
