Death of the Oldest Native Resident.
We Published a few days ago the obituary of Mr. Robert Thompson, who, we believe, was the oldest native born citizen west of the mountains. Mr Thompson was born on Turtle Creek, in this county (then Westmoreland), in 1773 and at the time of his death was in his ninety-seventh year. He resided in this county his whole life, never having been from his home over six weeks at a time, and then only when business required. He married Miss Nancy Gravat, when in the thirty-first year of his age, with who he had fourteen children, all of whom lived to the ages of seniority; he had seventy-four grandchildren, and over one hundred great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. Mr Thompson built one of the first grist mills in the county, many of his customers coming a distance that required three days to make the trip. He was a quiet, unobtrusive man and died universally respected by all who knew him.
