Cousin Aaron was the son of Joshua Greenland and Anna Stains Greenland. He moved to Iowa before 1848. He married Mary Jane Webb on January 9, 1850 in Jefferson County, Iowa. They had the following children:

(1) Homer Greenland (1852-?)
(2) Richard Clarke Greenland (1854-1928)
(3) James S. Greenland (1856-1928)
(4) Jacob Greenland (1858- ?)
(5) Addison Greenland (1860-1878)
(6) Jonathan Greenland (1860- ?)
(7) Nancy A. Greenland (1862-1863)

Aaron was in the 4th Iowa Cavalry, Company H during the Civil War. He died on Feb. 17, 1864 of a camp disease (probably dysentery). Aaron is buried in the Brethren Cemetery near Batavia, Iowa.
