Catherine was born in Irlach, Kreis Cham, Oberpfalz, Bavaria, Germany, to Michael Pfeiffer and Margaretha Vogl. She was baptized on the same day by Father Georg Brunner at St. Vitus Catholic Church in Tiefenbach. Sponsor was Catharina Vogl of Irlach. At age 18, she emigrated from Bremen, Germany with her parents and sisters on the SS Fulda, arriving at Castle Garden at the Port of New York on June 6, 1885. The family possibly stayed a short time with the Thomas Schwartz family in Troy Township, Sauk County, Wisconsin before moving in a log house in Wilson Creek, Spring Green Township in Sauk County. At age 21, she was married to Andrew Ringelstetter (an emigrant from Altenschneeberg, Bavaria) on October 3, 1887 at St. Luke Catholic Church, Plain in Sauk County. Witnesses were Michael Alt and Francisca Ringelstetter. Andrew and Catherine and family lived in a log house at Section Sec 13, T9N, R3E in Franklin Township, Sauk County, Wisconsin from August 1886 to September 1896. They then farmed at Section 34, T9N, R4E in Lower Wilson Creek, Spring Green Township, Sauk County, Wisconsin. On October 22, 1905, they purchased a farm at State Road 60 in Section 36 in Troy Township, Sauk County, Wisconsin. Andrew and Catherine had 10 children: Anna, Henry, Regina, Herman, Clara, John Albert, Hildegard Marie, Rudolph John, Agnes Anna, and Alphonse. Andrew died on July 18, 1922. In October 1934, Catherine moved off the farm to 445 West Hill Street in Spring Green with her daughters Clara and Agnes.
