John Wesley Rominger (went by Wesley) was the eldest of nine known children of Christian Ludwig (went by Lewis) Rominger (1806-1885) and Elizabeth Hyre (Hire) Rominger (1807-1896), who married 05 May 1827 at Davidson County, North Carolina. In 1829 the parents and first child, Wesley, moved to the Moravian Commmunity of Hope, Bartholomew County, Indiana. In 1845 the family moved to Davis County, Iowa, just recently ceded by American Indians to the Government.

Wesley's grave is marked 1822-1900, but he was actually born in 1828 and died in 1899.

Wesley married Mary Ellen Wray (1835-1877) on 24 Oct 1850 at Davis County, Iowa. Wesley and Mary lived at Davis County, Iowa where Mary died in 1877. Sometime after 1880 Wesley moved to Nebraska with some of his children.

1. Marquis de Lafayette (Marcus or Mark) Rominger (1852-1932)
2. Laura Rominger (c1854-young)
3. Louis (Lewis?) Christian Rominger (1857-1936)
4. Oscar Rominger (1859-1923)
