Thomas M. Beierle was born in a hillside dugout on the farm his parents homesteaded southwest of David City in 1877. He married Josephine Bock in 1901. Josephine was born in 1882 in Savannah , Nebraska , which at that time was the county seat of Butler County . They lived on the 400-acre family farm 7.5 miles southwest of David City for 45-years and raised 5 daughters before retiring to David City in 1945. Josephine died November 1, 1963 and Thomas died in 1965. (contributed by Boston Studio)

Funeral Services Held for Thomas Beierle

A retired Butler County farmer, Thomas M. Beierle, 88, died Saturday, Dec. 18, at the David City Hospital.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 21, at David City Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Lloyd Mohnkern officiating.

Mrs.Herman Hansen, soloist was accompanied by Mrs. Florence Johnson, organist.

Pallbearers were George Conrad, Fay Kilgore, Lester Selden, Cyril Birkel, Leo Adamy, and Leonard Adamy. Burial was in the David City Cemetery.

Thomas M. Beierle, the son of John and Anna Kirschner Beierle was born Dec 27, 1877 at Millerton, Butler Co. Nebraska. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith.

On Feb 12, 1901 he was married to Josephine Bock. Five daughters were born to this union, all of whom survive him.

The Beierles resided on a Butler county farm until 1943 when they retired and moved to David City.

Mr. Beierle was a member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge for a number of years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Josephine, on Nov 1, 1963; two sons in law, two brothers and seven sisters.

Surviving him are his daughters, Mrs. Mamie Casper of Albion, Mrs. Glen (Lillian) Sargent and Mrs. Viola Boyers of David City, and Mrs. Ralph (Helen) Scheidel and Mrs. Donald (Bernice) Pieters of Salem, Oregon; nine grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
