Roger Bartholomew, age 68, Elbow Lake, died Sunday, December 28, 2008, at the Barrett Care Center.

Funeral services for Roger Bartholomew were held Friday, January 2, 2009, at Peace Lutheran Church in Barrett with Pastor Cordell Strug officiating. Burial was in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, rural Barrett.

Roger Willis Bartholomew was born on November 18, 1940, in Starbuck, Minnesota, to Willis and Edith (Magnuson) Bartholomew during a snow storm. He was baptized at St. Luke's Church in Garfield. Roger was confirmed at the Immanuel Lutheran Church west of Barrett and attended school in District 67 and Barrett High School.

Throughout his career in heavy equipment, Roger worked for Rudy Link, Carol Holmen, Ed Zimmerman, and Donald Lawson, all road contractors. He most recently worked for Jay Johnson making farm equipment repairs and doing farm work. Roger helped many neighbors and friends with mechanic work and welding.

Roger's hobbies included fishing, hunting, wood working, attending auction sales and threshing bees, and potluck gatherings with family and friends.

Roger is survived by his mother, Edith Bartholomew of Alexandria; sisters, Donna (David) Chan of Ham Lake and Shirley (Gary) Boysen of Farwell; brother, Bob Bartholomew of Maple Grove; brother-in-law, Ron Rotenberger of Milnor, ND; nine nieces and nephews, Jim Chan, Gary Rotenberger, Carmen (Willie) Ross, David (Lonnie) Rotenberger, Mark (Tara) Boysen, Dale (Angie) Boysen, Julie (Doug) Seest, Paula Ohman (Tom Gram) and Paul (Luisa) Bartholomew; and 14 great-nieces and great-nephews, Cory, Shaina, Garrett, Dalton, Dylan, Ani, Tyus, Zach, Jenna, Kayla, Joshua, Larissa, Josie and Tom.

He was preceded in death by his father, Willis Bartholomew; sister, Ruth Ann Rotenberger; and brother, Leonard Bartholomew.

Arrangements were with the Erickson-Smith Funeral Home in Elbow Lake.
