Irvin Jarshaw, 87, died Saturday, April 5, 2008 at Hillcrest Nursing Home, Red Lake Falls, MN.

Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Thursday April 10, 2008 at Zion Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls, MN with Reverend Gary Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Rindal Cemetery, New Solum Township, Marshall County, MN.

Visitation will be 5 – 8 PM, Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls with a 7 PM prayer service and for one hour prior to service at the church, Thursday.

Irvin Thomas Jarshaw was born August 25, 1920 on the family farm near Newfolden, MN in Marshall County. He was the son of Fred and Tillie (Langlie) Jarshaw. He was baptized and confirmed at Rindahl Church. He attended Busy Bee Country School. Irvin served his country in the United States Army with the 116th General Hospital in Germany.

On August 25, 1970, Irvin was united in marriage to Margie Swan in Thief River Falls. He farmed his whole life on the family farm. He also worked for Ranum Construction for 36 years as a carpenter.

Irvin was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls, as well as a member of the Thief River Falls Eagles, American Legion and a life member of the VFW. He also was a member of the Keenagers at Holt, MN, and a member of the whist club at the Heritage Center in Thief River Falls and also volunteered there for 20 years. He bowled on the Leisure League for several years.

He is survived by wife, Margie, Thief River Falls, MN; a daughter, Kathy (Gerald) Hanson, Strandquist, MN; grandchildren, Chad (Sonja) Hanson, Hawthorne, WI and Corey (special friend, Melissa Poppy) Hanson, Plymouth, MN; a great grandson, Joshua Hanson; brother, Maynard (Kathy) Jarshaw, Olympia, WA; sisters, Irene Holmstrom, Florence Lykken and Fern Bruggeman all of Thief River Falls, MN; sister-in-law, Genevieve Jarshaw, Newfolden; along with several nieces and nephews.

Irvin is preceded in death by parents; sister, Pearl (Nels) Boe and brothers Elmer (Delores) Jarshaw, Sam (Malada) Jarshaw and James Jarshaw, niece Arlene Carew, nephews, Timothy Bruggeman and Gene Boe.
