Katherine L. Tierney, age 89, of Basehor, Kansas passed away September 1, 2007 at Providence Medical Center, Kansas City, Kansas. Katherine was born May 28, 1918 in Rushville, Missouri to John and Elizabeth (Schlinsky) Loubey. Katherine was a member of W.A.V.E.S. in the Navy during WWII. She married Julian Tierney August 24, 1957, in St. Joseph, MO. She worked for the Department of Agriculture as an Accountant for many years. She was a member of Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Visitation will be Sunday, September 9, 2007 from 2-4 p.m. with a Rosary prayed at 3:30, at McGilley & Hoge Chapel, 8024 Santa Fe Drive, Overland Park, Kansas. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 10th at Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 7023 W. 71st Street, Overland Park, Kansas. Entombment will be at Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Katherine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, siblings: Theresa Loubey, Hattie Hammond, Mildred Poe, William Loubey and Donald Loubey. She is survived by; one sister: Rosemary Johnson, daughters: Mary E. Quick and husband Matthew, Leona A. Dekat and husband Joseph, grandchildren: Joseph Jr. & Jerome Dekat, James, Janelle & Michael Quick, and great grandchildren: Zoey & Aidan Dekat, and Persephone May.
