Aunt Kitty was named Catherine, for her mother, Nancy Catherine Steppe...she was always called Kitty, always known as Kitty, never as Kate. I realize she was listed as "Kate" in the 1880 census, but when you look at that census record, it appears her name was written in at a later time. Regardless, she was not known as Kate.........she was always known as Kitty.
