Odis D. Gregg, 89, of Amarillo died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2008.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Westminster Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Jeff Conway officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40.

Odis was born Sept. 13, 1919, in Briscoe County to Arthur Abram and Rosa Maebell Gregg. He grew up during the Depression and graduated from Silverton High School. He went to Texas A&M and received an engineering degree. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Jeanne Cantwell, and she died in the late 1970s. He was the superintendent of the city solid waste department in Houston.

In the early '80s, he moved to Amarillo to take care of his father, who lived to be 100. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and was an active member of the "Sunporch" Sunday school class. He collected all types of artifacts during his life to create and open a museum, including dolls, games, toys and anything of collectable value. He was considered a wonderful person by all who knew him and was well-respected.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and two sisters, Alyce Lindemann and Zonelle Milton.

Survivors include two brothers, Odell Gregg and Bill Gregg; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
