Family histories say that he "moved from Guilford, Conn., to Claremont in an ox team and when they crossed what is now the Park in Claremont town, found their way through the forest then standing, by means of blazed trees." He and his wife Elizabeth (Field) Munger had eight children, including William Frederick Munger buried in this cemetery.
