The death of Mrs. John B. Lavalley, aged 77, which was announced Jan. 25, came as a shock to a wide circle of her friends and acquintances. Mrs. Lavalley had been sick for the past six years but was a great sufferer for the last four months, but her bright and sunny dispostition enabled her to bear her suffereings with fortitude. She was a kind and devoted mother, a good neighbor and steadfast friend. She was very unselfish during her whole life and every place that she resided she won warm friends. When she was ready she quietly fell asleep and touched the hand of Him who said "Suffer Little Children to Come unto Me"

She leaves to mourn her loss five children, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, one brother and a wide circle of friends. Her children are John Lavalley of Redford, Milo Lavalley, Mrs. Amos Collins, Mrs. Frank Collins and Miss Mary Lavalley of Saranac. Her brother is David Duprey of Plattsburgh. She died at the home of her son John.

The funeral services were held at Redford, Jan. 31. The remains were taken to West Chazy. She was buried at St. Joseph's Cemetery at the side of her husband.

Mrs. Lavalley was born at Lacolle, Canada and in her early life moved to Champlain and there married John Lavalley. After her marriage she purchased a little place at Beekmantown and lived there for many years. About twelve years she moved to Saranac.
