Mrs. Helsel, 78, of 2551 W. Carson Valley Road, Duncansville, died at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 3, 1993, at Altoona Hospital, following and extended illness.
She was born March 25, 1915, in Carson Valley, the daughter of George W. and Hattie (Hoover) Brubaker. She married Ellsworth Helsel on May 15, 1937, in Duncansville. He died June 16, 1985.
Surviving are five children: Alys Shaw of McKee and Galen, Dale, Lillie Nofsker and Alma Smith of Carson Valley; 20 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are two brothers: Frank and Dean of Carson Valley.
Mrs. Helsel was a member of Carson Valley Church of the Brethren, where she was a member of the Women's Fellowship and a Sunday School teacher.
She was also a volunteer at the Morrisons Cove Home, Martinsburg.
Friends will be received at the Liebegott-Fisher Funeral Home, Duncansville.
