In recent years, she resided in Virginia Beach. She retired from Miller and Rhodes department store.
She is survived by two sons, Ronald L. King, MD and his wife Lynn of Virginia Beach and Larry King, Esquire and his wife Sherri of Yorktown; six grandchildren, Kimberly Hinson and her husband Eric, Darren King and his wife Marcie, Dana Lotkin and her husband Adam, Heather Sabourin and her husband Jason, Cara King and Kevin King; two great-grandchildren, Brent Hinson and Jadyn Sabourin; a sister, Rose Norad of Hampton; and a brother, Stanley Zedd and his wife Sarah of Norfolk.
Bessie was always kind and caring. After her husband Charlie died at a young age, she devoted her life to taking care of her greatest love, her sons, Ron and Larry. She worked hard to help them become a respected doctor and lawyer. Bessie was a woman of strength, devotion, dedication, kindness and love. Her proud legacy is her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be missed by all.
A graveside service will be held Friday at noon at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk by Rabbi Lawrence A. Forman.
Memorial donations may be made to Beth Sholom Home of Eastern Virginia. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk chapel, is in charge of arrangements
